HR Professionals’ Expect More Job Cuts

A recent survey on the future job cuts says, many Human Resource Professionals said that they expect them to be deeper.

Around 56 percent of the companies said layoffs will be of the managers and professionals jobs. Around 43 percent of the companies are to lay off hourly services workers also. Only 12 percent of them said that they are going to lay off senior executives.

Everyday there are news from one company or the other over big numbers of lay offs. Apart from the highly volatile situations, the employees are also facing other kind of ill treatments from their respective employers in the form of salary freezes, halted bonuses, and even lowered wages.

I say it is better than those who were issued layoff notices. But how long can you work in such high-pressure conditions? It depends upon your power to endure, because the situations are not going to change even in the coming months.

The layoffs have not come down in spite of desperate efforts from the Government. There are still major companies who have announced mass layoffs in their firms, recently. Let’s have a look at their news.

The first layoff news is from the search engine giant Google. It declared that it is going to close down its three engineering offices and layoff 100 employees. The major thing here is that all the 100 employees are the recruiters of Google. According to a blog from the Vice President - Laszlo Bock of Google, the economy downturn is forcing them to have fewer people to focus on recruiting.

WellPoint is the largest Health Insuring Company of US. It has announced that it is going to cut jobs of 1,500 employees in order to reduce costs to cope up with the recession. All these are entry level and junior positions and senior staff are safe for now.

Honda is the Japan’s No.2 automaker. I don’t know much about its position in US. But it is going to cut 3,100 jobs of all the temporary workers in their company. The good news here is that the layoffs will be in Japan only.

Similarly, Autodesk, which saw losses in the 4th quarter of 2008, decided to layoff 750 people from its office.

Microsoft set the stage for a complete battle to overthrow Yahoo's board of directors yesterday when it declared it was interested in reopening talks to buy all or part of the internet company but only if a new board was appointed first. The involvement, less than a month before Yahoo's annual meeting, gives backing to the flagging efforts of activist investor Carl Icahn to unseat Jerry Yang, Yahoo's chief executive, and the rest of the board that failed to reach agreement on Microsoft's earlier takeover offer. Now yahoo reached a separate search advertising alliance with Google. Immediately Microsoft had left open a proposal of its own to acquire Yahoo's search business but not whole firm. Yahoo's shares climbed by nearly 12 per cent on the news, to $23.89, though they remained below the $33 a share that Microsoft indicated in May it was prepared to pay.

Microsoft said that, with another board in place, it would be interested in discussing a deal either to assume Yahoo's search function "with large financial guarantees" for the internet company, or to buy Yahoo outright. The previous offer for Yahoo's search business, in which Microsoft would have taken over the service and paid a percentage of the advertising money it received to Yahoo, did not contain any revenue guarantees for Yahoo. Yahoo said it was open to negotiating an offer from Microsoft but that, after an overture of its own last month. Turning Yahoo over to Mr Icahn so that he could sell the search business to Microsoft "at a price to be determined in a future 'negotiation'" would not be in the best interests of shareholders, it added. Microsoft's decision to throw its weight behind Mr Icahn follows a war of words between the software group and Yahoo.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a corporation in the United States whose members serve for as "advisers to the nation on science, engineering, and medicine. When I am doing my college, I’ve lived with a roommate who is right for me in one of the Orlando apartments. One of the sources of pleasure of living with the right roommate is having a friend that you see every day, first thing in the morning and last at night. Same time crazy roommates can make your skin crawl, your face turn red with anger and smoke blow from your ears. To avoid that, here are some tips on choosing the right roommate:

As neat goes with neat, and messy with messy. For a roommate to be right for you, it is important that they are roughly as clean or as messy as you are.
Choose someone with whom you can discuss finances and money issues. This is important because, you'll be splitting the bills on electricity, gas, cable, Internet and possibly furniture, you must feel comfortable enough with them to talk candidly about the size of the gas bill or whether premium cable channels are worth the cost.
Discuss your preferences for inviting friends over. How often do you like having people over? Do you mind if your roommate's friends are at your apartment late? If you disagree over having people over all the time or letting friends sleep on the couch, it'll be a source of tension.
Discuss how late or early you go to bed and how sound of a sleeper you are. Could you handle it if your roommate always had people over who talked loudly late into the night? What about early-to-bed roomies who's always yelling at you to turn down the TV to near silent levels? The right roommate should have a similar sleep schedule and / or noise preference as you.
Ask about pets. Don't forget to find out what pets they have or whether they're okay with yours. Are they willing to help care for the animal, say, when you're out of town? Also, discuss any allergies.
Choose a person for compatibility, not likeability. Friends do not always make the best roommates. You see your friends on a limited basis; so neither of you has to deal regularly with each other's habits.

Every one has habits in which some good habits and also bad habits so we try to keep away bad habits at the same time developing the good habits. I’ve been using some techniques for years to re-engineer many aspects of my life. That includes, exercising regularly, overhauling my diet, bulking my e-mail, cutting out television and work routines. I put little efforts on it but get the result is an improved quality of life. These are some tips for develop good habits.

Replace Lost Needs
Don’t pull out habits with out replacing the needs they fulfill for example your decided to stop to watch television then spend that time on your computer or gardening.

One Habit at a Time
Try to change only one habit at a time because trying to change more than a few habits at a time to be reckless so stick to change one habit at a time. Multitasking between three or four often means none become habits.

Write it Down
Don’t leave commitments in your brain always keep them in paper it gives the clarity by defining in specific terms and it keeps you committed till you change.

Keep it Simple
Your change should be only few rule not many. Simple rules create habits, complex rules create headaches. So follow one or two simple rules with commitment.

So we can’t quit the bad habits quickly at the same time we can’t develop good habits so be patient with yourself. You need little efforts daily for developing good habits.

Each fund has a predetermined investment objective that tailors the fund's assets, regions of investments and investment strategies. At the fundamental level, there are three varieties of mutual funds:

Money market funds

All mutual funds are variations of these three asset classes. For example, while equity funds that invest in fast-growing companies are known as growth funds, equity funds that invest only in companies of the same sector or region are known as specialty funds.
